Our Confession

We stand in the tradition of the Historic Creeds and Reformed Confessions of Faith, and affirm the five “Solas” of the Reformation.

The 2nd London Baptist Confession of Faith (1689)

Our Statement of Faith summarizes our essential Christian beliefs, seeking both to demonstrate our unity in Christ with other believers, and guard the church against error. It explains that Clay Community Church is a “confessional community in which theological, ethical, and moral accountability is demonstrated.

This means that our Statement of Faith was intentionally written to be understood and interpreted in light of our reformed and confessional heritage, which includes affirming one of the larger and more detailed historic confessions of faith.

We are convinced that the most faithful and robust historical expression of what the Bible teaches is found in The 2nd London Baptist Confession of Faith (1689), which is often shortened to “The 1689 Confession” or abbreviated as “2LCF” or “1689“.

The full text of The 2nd London Baptist Confession of Faith is found in its original wording at The 1689 Confession.
